I found this news in Google Scholar. I have chosen this news because at that time I was looking for the article which was about the goverment support. It is quite interesting about how the goverment supports the eco-tourism, and how much the government cares about it.

ETravel Blackboard’s (N.D) state Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) acknowledges that the necessity to create a network to support national ecotourism. Occasionally, where ideas are exchanged and finally a national conference is held where participants from essential agencies both public and private come together to verify the idea of creating an ecotourism network, with “the aim to support ecotourism” and “sustainable tourism”. The meeting agreed to create 3 levels of network (eTravel Blackboard, N.D).

Thus, I think after reading this article would give clearler view about the government support on eco-tourism. The government support the eco-tourism industry by creating eco-tourism network to other countries. I think it possible that eco-tourism will be more popular in real soon.

I found this source on google, and it is the fisrt Thai website that I found which is about eco-tourism in Thailand. I think all of the information is this source is really good, and it is very useful for my termpaper. However, eco-tourism is becoming popular, and it is one of alternative ways to travel and conserve the nature concurrently.

According to Treetopia (N.D), the eco-tourism company, Treetopia gives importance to the conservation of the nature’s balance throughout Thai rainforest. They support “ecological education programs” and fund for “re-planting program” to conserve native trees and animals; in addition, 10 per cent of profits will be given to rainforest restoration and protecting the rare animals, such as Gibbon ape (Treetopia, N.D).

In my opinion, creating programs or activities can make the natural visitors to be fun; besides that, it convinces the natural visitors to conserve the nature as well. In the future, eco-tourism will be more popular, especially in Thailand because of the support from Treetopia company.

Definition of Eco-tourism

I have chosen this source because I think it is useful and relate to my termpaper which is about eco-travelling; in addition, my major is THM (Tourism and Hospitality Management); consequently, I chose to look tourism industry, and the very first thing that I want readers to know is the definition of eco-tourism. I have read this text, and it is all about the definition of eco-tourism and main purpose of it.
According to Merge (2007), definition of Ecotourism has been indentified as miscellaneous ways by different players attempting to define it; in addition, those players, organizations and authority people, attempt to define it for benefits for themselves; nevertheless, there are various workable definitions simultaneously in common use. The International Ecotourism Society defines Ecotourism as having a responsibility to the natural areas meaning conserving the nature during the travel that also improve the welfare of indigenous people (Merge, 2007). Merge says that Ecotourism has been called as the nature which is based on tourism involving education and interpretation of the environment by The Australian Commission on National Ecotourism Strategy. Since the publication of “Ecotourism and Sustainable Development”, Martha Honey’s ecotourism definition has quickly become the standard. “Most serious solemn studies of ecotourism including several University programs now use this as the working definition” (Merge, 2007); moreover, there are 7 common defining points:

1. Involves travel to natural destinations.

2. Minimize Impact.

3. Builds environmental awareness.

4. Provides direct financial benefits for conservation.

5. Provides financial benefits and empowerment for local people.

6. Respect local culture.

7. Supports human rights and democratic movements.

It can be said that giving the definition and information of eco-tourism to natural visitors can interest them; in addition, it is the gate way to other steps. I think if people acknowledge the primary purpose of eco-tourism, it will be interest a lot of tourists.
